UCAT exam format
The UCAT aims to assess a range of mental abilities that are considered important by the medical and dental establishment.
The exam is divided into five different sub-exams, each with its own time and multiple-choice questions. The Linguistic Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Comprehension subtests form the mental part of the test, while the Situational Decision subtest is the non-mental part.
Each year UCAS creates different exam formats by selecting random questions from a large question book. The format of the test you must take is randomized, as is the order in which the questions are presented in each post-exam. This ensures that each candidate’s test-taking experience is unique. Each format is equal and balanced to ensure that the results obtained by candidates in each exam format are comparable. The usual duration of the exam is two hours.
