The mission of Sylhet Women’s Medical College is to provide high-quality, medical education to all students, be the primary teaching hospital in Sylhet and offer training opportunities for nurses and allied health care professionals as well as to provide the setting for ongoing clinical research that helps bring medical advances from the laboratory to the patient’s bedside; and to serve the community as a public health advocate and provide support and services which respond to the area’s health care needs through health education, health promotion and access to care.

About Us

Sylhet Women’s Medical College and Hospital is a state of the art teaching and medical facility with a unique architectual design throughout its 3 high-rise buildings built on 130,000 square feet of land in the heart of Sylhet.

History

Holy Land Private Limited and Sylhet Health and Education Services Limited joined together in 2005 for a noble cause in medical education and health care. Together they formed Holy Sylhet Holding Limited.

In 2007, Holy Sylhet Holding Limited (HSHL) commenced the college and hospital with the permission of the Government of Bangladesh and after completing all the necessary formalities with the respective Ministries, Departments, Medical Associations and University.

HSHL also has plans to establish a Dental College and 4-year Nursing College on its 3-Acre property in the heart of Sylhet City.

Presently, the entire organization has 96 Directors and 13 Shareholders and over 50% of them invest in the organization as Non Resident Bangladeshis. As per the Government of Bangladesh’s investment policy this qualifies HSHL and its sister concerns as one of the largest NRB (Non Resident Bangladeshi) institutional investments in Bangladesh.

Sylhet Women’s Medical College and Hospital are sister concerns of Holy Sylhet Holding Limited which also has two auxiliary companies called Holy Land Private Limited and Sylhet Health and Education Services Limited. Aside from Sylhet Women’s Medical College and Hospital, Holy Sylhet Holding Limited is in the process of developing a Dental College and a four-year Nursing College to create world standard quality dentists and registered nurses.

Relying on the skill and expertise of approximately 250 college-based and community physicians, Sylhet Women’s Medical College & Hospital (SWMCH) provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary, family-focused care in more than 100 medical specialty areas. Presently,we treat approximately 200,000 outpatient and clinic visits; and have 16,200 discharges at SWMCH annually. As the primary teaching hospital for Sylhet Women’s Medical College & Hospital (SWMCH), we have supervised student physician supporting our medical staff by providing around-the-clock coverage and insightful patient care.

Sylhet Women’s Medical College & Hospital regularly ranks among the 5 best private teaching hospitals in Bangladesh and is accredited by Ministry of Health as well as Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). SWMCH is nationally recognized for its commitment to teaching and excellent medical treatment. It is also is guided by the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology.

Admission Procedure

Selection of the Students

Candidates for admission are selected through admission test conducted by Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Bangladesh.

Notice for admission of students into first year class is advertises in the daily newspapers and website.

Selection is madeon the basis of merit score/position of admission test which is conducted by DGHS.

Duration of Course:

The MBBS course is for a duration of five (5) academic years of studies followed by one year partnership after graduation (as per Government rules and regulations).

Course and Curriculum:

The course and curriculum for five academic years will be the same year published by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council and approved by the faculty of Medicine of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet.

**All the financial transaction with this college is to be made by Pay order/DD in the name of Sylhet Women’s Medical College

Fees structure (Tuition fee):
Tuition fee:Tk. 8,000.00 Per month (Upto final year).

 

Hostel Fee

a) Hostel Establishment Fee (Non-refundable): Tk. Tk 30,000/-
b) Monthly Rent (Including service charge): Tk 2500/- or Tk 3000/-

 

Fees for Foreign Students:

Student can pay all installment at a time.
a. One time development fee: US$ 10,000.00
b. Admission fee US$ 4,000.00
c. Tuition fee (210 x 60 months) US$12,600.00
d. Other fees US$ 3,900.00
e. Hostel Establishment fees US$ 500.00
f. Hostel Rent US$ 3000.00
Grand Total (USD) for Regular Student US$ 34,000.00

 

Mode of Payment:
a. At the time of admission: US$ 14,000.00
b. Within 1st Week of July (Same Academic year) US$ 4,000.00

 

c. Rest US$16,000 will be paid in 08 equal installment at the rate of US$ 2000.00 after 06 months interval.
d. Student can pay all installments at a time (Optional)

Hostel

Students of the hostel must reside in their allotted seats at the hostel. The Hostel is situated within the campus. Hostels have the facilities such as dining room, common room with arrangements for games, TV etc.

CLEANLINESS :

Students are asked to maintain proper cleanliness of their rooms. Waste materials from rooms are to be kept in wastebasket / plastic bin in each floor. It is expected that every student will be well disciplined and behave properly both in hostel and in the campus and must not be involved in anything unbecoming and unwanted.

The college authority will bear no responsibility for any activity or traveling outside the campus by the students. The college authority will provide accommodation for a student during the 5 year MBBS course.
