Dairy technology is a division of engineering that deals with the processing of milk and its products. Dairy technology study involves processing, storage, packaging, distribution and transportation of dairy products by implying the science of bacteriology, nutrition and biochemistry. Apart from that, some principles of physics, engineering, economics and chemistry are also incorporated in the field of dairy technology, in order to develop the appropriate utilization of milk and their products. The main occupations are production and processing. Production process involves collecting of milk, reproduction of high yielding cattle’s and taking care of the animals. Processing includes managing of milk for supply or its alteration into dairy products. After the milk reaches the plant, processing work begins and it is converted into a variety of dairy products. Dairy industry plays a vital role in India’s agro-based economy.
