The University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) is a private university in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. It was established in 2003 through the UPES Act, 2003, of the State Legislature of Uttarakhand. The University is sponsored by Hydrocarbon Education Research Society (HERS),which is registered under the ‘Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860’ (Registration No. S-41894 of 2002). UPES is maintained by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956.

Placements 2019-2020

Placements 2019-2020 have begun on a high note at UPES with 2023 placements and with 2475 offers from top-notch companies to date*.

One of the students, Saksham Kumar, from B. Tech Computer Science Engineering, has received the highest package of INR 44 LPA so far from a leading gaming company in the Netherlands. Kamal Dua, Abhishek Paharva and Kartik Singh, also from the School of Computer Science, have each landed a package of INR 30 LPA.

School of Design has closed with 100 % placements in record time with an average CTC of INR 6.34 LPA.

The university boasts of a robust and successful Career Services Department. Its partnerships with industries ensure that the students have adequate exposure and get rapidly absorbed into professional roles on completion of their studies.

At UPES, the focus is on developing a world-class pool of young and talented professionals ready to hit the ground running in their respective fields. Summer internships

Summer Internships are mandatory for all graduates and post-graduate students. The minimum duration of summer internships is six weeks and goes to a maximum of eight week.

Infrastructure

The hostels are triple-sharing ones as the room is pretty big. It has free Wi-Fi, labs, and a library for students.
